Peace River
Arcadia, Florida
Kermit Goes South for the Winter of 2015
You may have noticed Kermit has always traveled in the Northeastern United States and Canada, but during the first extreme could winter months of 2015 he finally struck out in a new direction. The Peace River begins at the confluence of Saddle Creek and Peace Creek near Bartow in central Florida. It empties into Charlotte Harbor by Punta Gorda. This river is as much like the AuSable River in central Michigan as could  be any river in the south. The water is clean and the flow allows a leisurely paddle between sand banks at about 3 miles per hour. Canoe Outpost provides transportation, camp grounds canoes and kayaks for both day and overnight tripping.

SHORT RIVER MAP
Our trip began at Brownville Park on the lower part of the map. The trees in most parts of the south are draped with Spanish Moss.
This guy is waiting for lunch on the river bank. Actually he is sunning himself but it isn't a recommended swimming spot..
Eating our picnic lunch at one of the many campsites provided by the outfitter.
Metrics: In all we paddled 7.75 miles in two hours thirty minutes with one of hour stopped time.
